
Petr Jiříkovský has been playing piano since he was four. He was a pupil of Zdena Janžurová at music school, of Emil Leichner at Prague Conservatory, and of Ivan Klánský and prof. František Malý at the Academy of Musical Arts. He continued his studies abroad Qn Paris and Vienna) with outstanding personalities such as Eugen Indjic and Itamar Golan, also participating in master classes of Lazar Berman, Georgy Sandor, Menahem Pressler and Yefim Bronfman.
Since his childhood, Jiříkovský has been taking top honors at Czech and international competitions. His solo repertoire is extremely broad, as is his chamber repertoire. He has performed as a soloist with a number of excellent orchestras including the Czech Philharmonic, Prague Symphony, Prague Chamber Orchestra and Talich Chamber Orchestra) and conductors (such as Jiří Bělohlávek, Libor Pešek, James Sedares and Ondřej Kukal. He has played recital programs in many countries, at the Prague Spring Festival, and also in the prestigious Prague Symphony Orchestra cycle “World Piano Compositions“ at the Rudolfinum.
Jiříkovský is also very active in the field of chamber music. He is a member of the Martinů Piano Trio (formerly Academia) and plays with other artists, primarily violinists such as Shlomo Mintz and Pavel Šporcl. His chamber performances have taken him to prestigious venues, including Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, Doelen in Rotterdam, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, as well as many international festivals, for example Prague Spring, Salzburger Festspiele, Schleswig-Holstein, Mitte Europa, Sion-Valais and Kyoto Autumn.
Petr Jiříkovský records regularly for Czech Radio and has also recorded several CD's for labels such as Supraphon, Universal, Bonton, Musicvars and MMC. His most significant recordings include a number of CD's of Bedrích Smetana's piano works for Studio Matouš.
